2010 Scholarship Awards

Congratulations to the following students and alumni descendants who have been awarded the CFHSAA 2010 scholarships:
Carrie Mattingly of Lexington, Kentucky has been awarded the
CFHSAA Academic Scholarship. Carrie's mother, Bari Lee Monroe
Mattingly, is a 1983 graduate of CFHS and her grandparents, Robert and
Barbara Golladay Monroe are 1953 and 1952 CFHS graduates. Carrie, who is ranked number on in her class, plans to attend the University of Louisville and double major in political science and Spanish.
Zachary Carroll , who attends Alleghany High School, has been
awarded the Green and Gold Athletic Scholarship. Zachory's mother, Liz
Mays Carroll is a 1983 graduate of CFHS. Zachory participated in
basketball,soccer, indoor and outdoor track plus cross country track.
He went to the district,region and state in indoor track and cross
country track plus he participated in district and region in outdoor
track. He plans on attending Concord University in Concord, WVA where
he will play soccer and run track and major in sports marketing.
Sara Hall from Millboro, Virginia, has been awarded the Class of
1952 Scholarship. Her father, Dennis Hall, is a 1977 graduate of CFHS.
Sara plans on attending Longwood University in Farmville, VA to major
in communication science and disorders. She is graduating third in her
class from Bath County High School.
The Decade of the 40's Scholarship has been awarded to Mariana
Keener. She lives in Clifton Forge and attends Alleghany High
School.Her mother, Leigh Ann Tucker Keener is a 1975 graduate of CFHS
and her grandfather, Raymond Tucker was a 1945 graduate.
Although Alleghany High School doesn't rank their students,
Marianna maintains a 4.127 grade point average. She plans on attending
Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. After graduating
from college, Marianna plans on attending medical school and pursue a
career as a physician.
